Tell us about yourself and business: My name is Julie DeFruscio and Dawn Juneau and I are best friends for over 20 years. We always thought we would like to start a business together and since we both love handbags the idea of being able to customize your own handbag was very appealing to us.
Dawn and I are co-owners also of Pump Wear Inc. this is a company that we started when my daughter at the age of 3 went on an insulin pump. We wanted her to have fun creative ways to wear the insulin pump. Over the years we have found that our cases were being used for every day and by people with out insulin pumps, they are great for cell phones and credit cards etc. So we came up with the idea of creating your perfect hand bag with your favorite fabrics.
What inspired you to start a business? Our inspiration was my daughter Nikki DeFruscio who suffers from type 1 diabetes, she has been our driven force in making sure that she has fashionable accessories and also provide all adults and children with fun creative items, and now through Girly Girl Studio opening up the creativity to everyone.
Share one business goal: One business goal is to have a Girly Girl Studio consultant in every state so that we never have to turn away a hostess wanting to experience our handbags.
What would you say contributes to your success? We contribute a bonding friendship, the love of a good handbag and lots, and lots of sleepless nights and endless hours of hard work.
What advice would you give to an aspiring entrepreneur? Our advice would be to make sure you love what you are doing because you are going to spend a lot of time working it!
