Tell us about yourself and your business: My name is Dee Dee M. Scott. I wear many hats. I am a playwright, film Producer, Publisher, author, entrepreneur, philanthropist and business woman. I am the CEO of:  A DDMS ENTERTAINMENT, where I run: Ahsyad Publications, A Raw Productions, A DDMS Theater Production, and A D & D Films.

What inspired you to start a business? I was basically sitting on my talent. I had dreams and I would talk about them all the time to my husband. He knew how much I loved writing.  One day he told me: Don’t talk about what you’re going to do; do it. It wasn’t until I suffered a bad case of Anemia after the birth of my son that I realized life was not promised to me. It was a gift, and I had been given my talents for a purpose. I spent months ill, and with my husband by my side caring for me around the clock. I promised myself that if I got well, I would do everything I had dreamed of. Once I regained my strength, I was up and running. My husband supported me 100%, and I haven’t looked back since.

What is your favorite quote or saying? The limit is not the sky; the limit is higher than the sky. I firmly believe that you should not limit or put yourself in a box, and that you should not let anyone else do it either. If you want something and have the drive, you should go after it, period.

What is one business goal for this year? To never stop reinventing my company, and to never stop learning.

What would you say contributes to your success? I keep Jehovah God first. Other than that, I would say; persistence, staying focused, creating and meeting goals and avoiding as much negativity as possible.

What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur? I would tell them to follow their dreams. There will be people who will tell you that what you have is not good enough. They will tell you that what you want to do can’t be done, or that you need to stick to what you’re doing. They may tell you that the time is not right for what you want to introduce. But if you have a talent, it will override everything.

I would also tell them to never stop studying, and to continue to perfect their gift. Lastly, I would tell them to be patient. Remember that nothing happens overnight, and if it does, it lacks foundation. Even through your dry spells, you must continue to set goals, and take steps daily to reach them. And if you do happen to fall, don’t stay there. Dust yourself off and get back up.

Are there any projects you are currently working on? I am working on my first film: Lake House, that will be released to select theaters later in 2013. I will also continue touring with the stage play- My Husband’s Woman. I am also producing two stage plays, Misery Loves Company and All The Bad Man Can Do Is keep The Good One From Coming To You, coming in 2014.  I also have eight talented authors signed to my publishing company, Ahsyad Publications. Some of their books will be released later this year too.
