Video Marketing has become a very valuable and successful tool for building your business. Not only does it provide you the ease of creating something one time that can be shared and passed around for years to come, it also gives people another way to connect with you on a more personal level.

Because of this, I have decided to incorporate more video marketing in my business too! In the process of doing some research on the topic so I can learn as much as I can about video marketing, I came across a video blog post on this very subject.  Katie Freiling shares a great post titled, My 10 Most Powerful Video Marketing Tips and I recommend you go check it out if you want to learn how to create powerful video for your business.

TheCEOMammaSince the beginning of this year, many of you know, I have been actively and passionately building TheCEOMamma Network. In this short period of time, I never imagined it would have grown as much as it has. It gives me such an amazing feeling to know that this all started from a vision I had to help and inspire women entrepreneurs to be all they can be and create a powerful community where we can connect, network, share and learn from each other.

Don’t get me wrong, even though TheCEOMamma has taken off so quickly, it wasn’t easy. It took a great deal of time and commitment on my part to get it to where it is at this point. I’m thankful to those of you who support me in my endeavors, who share my vision to help women in business and I appreciate dearly, your contribution to spreading the word to your networking circles about TheCEOMamma.

These are the things that keep me going…day in and day out. Knowing that connecting with like-minded women and working together allows us ALL to grow and prosper together! When you start an online business and your focus is on developing a network, you never know who you will meet in cyber world or how valuable those relationships will become. I have been fortunate to become friends with some really amazing and encouraging women I would have probably never had the privilege of meeting had it not been for TheCEOMamma.

TheCEOMamma Business Marketing Blog is a great resource I enjoy sharing to help women in business and women entrepreneurs learn how to build and market their business on a limited budget, the same way I did. I’m honored to receive the generous amounts of email from those of you who share with me the gratitude you have for what I do. It is truly the source of where I draw my strength and I appreciate all your kind words.

I say all this, not to toot my own horn, but to share with you the importance of starting a business that first starts with a vision in your heart. When your dream business is birthed from the passion you have within and not driven by the monetary gain you hope to achieve, you can NOT fail.

Your dreams are driven by the same passion and vision which develops within you, the strength to keep going…No Matter What! Because of this heartfelt focus, failure is not an option and you will always find a way to make things happen. If you have a business right now and you feel that burn inside as your reading this, then you can be assured, you are creating your vision!

Many of you “see” my work within the posts of this blog, but I also do so much behind the scenes. I answer every request I receive for help from anyone who asks it of me. Whatever “extra” tip or piece of advice I can offer to a women entrepreneur not quit sure how to best complete a business task…I’m there to help! I encourage and mentor many women not just on a business level but on a motivational and inspirational level as well.

I do all this WHY? Because again…this comes from my inner passion, my purpose and I LOVE what I do! I am fulfilled when women tell me how much I have helped them or how I have encouraged them to do something they were afraid of or even how I confirmed something they already knew they needed to accomplish in their life or business but simply needed some support. After much reflection, consideration and frequent requests…I made a decision.

How many times are we asked that question? How many times do we stumble over the response? Let’s see. . . I provide financial services to seniors. . . or I’m a research analyst at the university. As a coach the main problem I encounter with my clients is coming to grips with what they do and why they do it.

Most of us know what we do but to say it in a way that engages people is another thing entirely. It’s rare that I meet someone at a networking event who says what he or she does in a way that engages me. Usually I have to figure out how to get engaged with the person. Or worse still, after they say what they do, it falls flat. I’m not sure what to say next. In contrast our goal should be to tell people what we do quickly in order to peak their interest and engage them in a conversation.

Here are some tips I’ve learned about developing your quick, elevator speech in an engaging manner.

* Focus on the benefits your product or service offers. Instead of saying, I’m a financial manager, say: “I help people make money by investing.” What is it that you do, that others might benefit from? I have a colleague who says, “I help organizations turn sales into money.”

* When you say what you do, say it with passion. Give the important words emphasis. Recently during a workshop I asked the participants to tell me what they do. One woman went into a long description about how she finds the right jobs for the right people. When I challenged her to think of benefits and to give words emphasis, she came up with a new description of her services. Now she says, “I’m a match-maker. I connect the perfect person with the perfect job.” The excitement of her new elevator pitch came across in her words. She said it like this: “I’m a match-maker. I connect the perfect people with the perfect job.”

* Your goal is not to tell it all, but to engage. You want the person you are talking with to ask you that all-important question. How do you do that? Essentially you want to get the other person asking you questions.

* Remember your target market. Many entrepreneurs do not wish to limit their market. I have clients who tell me they do not want to create a niche because that limits their service reach. In reality, the target is exactly what it says. It’s a place where you aim. You might hit another spot and if you do, fine. But, you aim for your target. What does this mean? I have a client who finally narrowed her target to coaching for people in religious settings. She can focus on developing group coaching, seminars, written materials and all kinds of other materials for her target population. If, however, someone outside the religious community wishes to engage her services, that’s fine. Recently a skilled sales person defined this concept for me as “land and expand.” Once you land with your foot in the door, you can expand. The trick is landing!

William Osler was one of the foremost teachers and writers of medical education during the 20th Century. He was a great physician who paved the way for many young doctors. Before his death he instructed his friends what he wanted to be remembered for-not the many medical discoveries he made, not the textbooks he’d written-instead, he said, “I taught medical students on the wards.” That was his target and his elevator speech. What’s yours?

Creating a Community Around Your BusinessHave you ever wondered how you could build a community around your business? It would be nice to have a bunch of people who willingly come together and share their thoughts and opinions about your business, wouldn’t it? Before you think it’s impossible to create such an environment around your company, let me explain.

A community can be defined as a group of people sharing the same interests and ideas. That’s what makes social media so amazing because it allows people from all over the world to come together online and communicate with each other about the common interests they all share.

It’s really easy to get people to come together and communicate about your business. Just like in real life, you engage the people who share your same interest then you start a conversation. Of course online, your conversation would be in the form of content. It’s up to you to determine in what way people would like to receive content from you, for example: video, articles, tweets…you get the idea. Content is what brings people together therefore, it creates a community.

If you have established your business online even if it’s to the smallest degree, you’ve probably already connected and have some sort of relationship with people who believe in what you are doing. Well guess what? These are the people who are a part of your community!

Now all you have to do is continue to focus your content at speaking directly to your community. So many times I have seen bloggers and internet marketers try to reach such a broad group of people and it comes through in their writing as generic and bland. You can’t please the masses, you have to connect with people who share your interests.

When your able to share your experience with your community and give content to them that creates interaction and sparks communication, they will be willing to engage because they know you understand their needs and offer solutions.

Creating a community doesn’t have to be difficult. You don’t even have to start your own social network (unless of course you want to!) You could however, start a group in an existing social community like TheCEOMamma Network.

Your Blog is also a great way to share your content and encourage interaction with your readers. You can get really creative by asking questions to your readers and requesting feedback or opinions. Having a Facebook Fan Page for your business makes a great community environment as well. It will require a bit more moderation and active participation on your part, but it’s still a good way to build relationships.

Believe it or not, Twitter can be great for creating your business community too! You can quickly share information and links with other people who share your interests. It gives you a way to invite them into your space and allows them to learn more about you and what you do.

As you can see, creating a community around your business is not only easy but can be fun as you connect with like minded people and grow your business at the same time!

Are you building a community around your business? How are you doing it? Share your tips in the comments below.

Let’s be honest, we ALL want a ton of loyal followers and raving fans chasing after us online helping us expand our business, right? Wouldn’t it be great to wake up each morning to find that over night, a flood of new people joined your fan page or your twitter account had a sudden rush of new followers? I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that this is the exact feeling most entrepreneurs would love to experience (myself included).

Even if you spend a large amount of time on social networking each day you still may not be getting the kind of followers and fans you want. The reason could be a few things but the main one could be your just not creating the right connections.

Let’s take Twitter for instance, if you are on there and your not actively seeking people to follow, more likely than not, you won’t have anyone following you back. If you do have followers and neither of you share anything in common, how exactly will you benefit from each other? Before you can establish the right connections on Twitter, you have to follow the right people.

How to Create Connections to Expand Your Social Media - TheCEOMamma Blog

Who are the right people and right connections? I’m glad you asked!

The good news is you can start creating the right connections today by simply tweaking your strategy. Before you jump back on Twitter or Facebook, you’ll want to think about the type of people you want following or connecting with you. Think about who you want buying your product, who you would love to work with, the type of people you’d like to partner with even consider the people you can learn from.

Those who want your product or service. Knowing what you offer, who are the individuals who will receive the most benefit? Are they women, are they mothers, are they mothers of children of a specific age… really narrow it down. These are the group of people you will need to start connecting with.

Those in your industry. Find and establish a rapport with people in your specific industry. Get over the competitive mentality, there is plenty of business to go around. It’s okay to “share” friends and followers of these people. Your not stealing business from each other, your simply broadening your network. Besides, people will do business with whomever they are drawn to and that’s a fact.

Those who are experts in other fields. Be open to partnering with experts in other industries who compliment your business and vice versa. Imagine how explosive it would be if you designed websites and you partnered with someone who has a web hosting company. The two of you could refer clients to each while both of you benefit from the almost effortless increase of income.  Step outside of your comfort zone and reach out!

Those who are highly influential. I’m sure there is someone you know who inspires you on a regular basis. That person (or people) who has built your ideal business and has been your motivating force during your business journey. These are the individuals who already are, where you want to be! Connect with them, follow them, learn from them. You never know what could come of these types of connections.

Those who are your raving fans. These are the people who encourage you to keep going. They are not necessarily customers (maybe they can’t afford your product), they are everywhere you are (they could find you in the dark), they are the ones who comment on your posts often and share your links without being prompted (they totally support what your about). They are the ones who seem almost able to see your vision as you see it. You must connect with these people because they are the ones who truly believe in YOU! They sometimes get lost in the crowd or may even be considered the underdog BUT they are your virtual cheerleaders and even if you don’t realize it…you inspire them! They genuinely appreciate ALL that you do.

Making the right connections requires activity on your part, especially if your just starting out (or restarting). Put forth the actions now and you will reap the rewards soon enough. It doesn’t have to be a difficult chore if you start building relationships with the right people now.

So, take these tips and get to work!

Next up, I’ll share with you how to create your own network community designed around your business!

As a small business owner, you’ve undoubtedly come across the concept of branding. Most likely, you’ve heard that if you want to succeed and skyrocket your biz to the top, then you need to create a powerful and memorable brand that your prospects believe in.

The main problem is that most small business owners are confused, overwhelmed and frustrated about the entire branding process. Is it the creation of a logo? Is it the website? Or, maybe it’s the particular combination of colors used in the sales literature.

While all this is a piece of the branding process, it’s really not embracing the entire concept.

So, what is branding? According to Bill Chiaravalle, Principal and Creative Director of Brand Navigation, “brands are promises that consumers believe in.” He simplifies the entire branding process down to the fact that if a company has done a good job branding themselves, the consumer will trust them and ultimately develop a strong emotional attachment to them.

I want to introduce you to a company that embraces the branding concept brilliantly and, as a result, has built a multi-million dollar business in the process.  Introducing: The Geek Squad.

The Geek Squad is not, in and of itself, a small business by any means, but they certainly have a lot to teach the small business owner about branding. Even if your office consists of a small kitchen table and you’re the President, Vice-President and your own personal assistant, you can borrow the concepts of The Geek Squad and incorporate them into your own small business.

When you visit the Geek Squad website, it makes an instant impression on you. Furthermore, you immediately understand what they are promising you. They’re the funny, dedicated “geeks” who understand absolutely everything about computers. They’re the same “geeks” from your high school math class who knew every answer on the tests and helped you out with your homework. They’re safe, reliable and as smart as it gets.

The Geek Squad understands that branding covers every single aspect of business.  It’s never just about your website or business logo (although that’s part of it). Branding is about creating a feeling and a response in the minds of your clients and customers.

Here Are 10 Ways That The Geek Squad Can Help You Explode Your Own Brand:

1. Company Name. The name of your company is an integral part of the branding process. You need to ensure that your customers understand who you are and what your represent through your company name.  Obviously, the name “Geek Squad” speaks volumes.

2. Website. Your website needs to offer your prospects a big picture look at your entire brand. Everything on your site should promote the promise that you are making to your clients and customers.

3. Mission Statement. Your company mission statement should be a natural extension of your brand. The Geek Squad states, “We’re an army more than 18,000 strong, on a singular mission to rid the world of rogue technology. We’re still oddly dressed, but we’re now oddly dressed and saving the day across the globe.” Brilliant.

4. Phone Tactics. Yes, branding even entails how you answer the phone. Think about ways that you can integrate your brand and your business phone. The Geek Squad doesn’t just “answer the phone.” Instead you are prompted to enter your “top secret pass code” or speak to a Geek Squad Special Agent. The on-hold music consists of a compilation of spy movie theme songs.

5. Dress Code. If you can incorporate your brand into the way that you or your employees dress, this will even add more believability to your brand. Of course, Geek Squad employees dress in white shirts, dress pants, “geeky” ties and yes, some even flaunt the pocket protector.

6. Tweets. If you’re going to use Twitter as a marketing tool, make sure that you use it as a platform to develop powerful brand awareness regarding your small business.  @GeekSquad tweets daily tips about fixing your computer, removing spyware and other “geeky” topics that their dedicated customer-base loves.

7. Blog. One of the most important marketing tools for today’s small business is maintaining a blog. There is no better way to communicate directly with your prospects, customers and clients.  At the Geek Blog, the writers go into depth about geeky technology, geeky facts and geeky jokes.

8. Videos. Have you heard about GeekSquad TV? That’s the ingenious Geek Squad videos that showcase the intelligence and utter geekiness of these likable employees. Again, their videos continue to drive home the fact that these guys know what they’re doing.

9. The Car You Drive. If you are creative enough, branding can even be a part of the car you drive. Take a look at the “Geek Mobile,” a compact, little VW emblazoned with the Geek Squad logo. If that doesn’t create brand awareness, I don’t know what would!

10. Consistency. One of the most crucial aspects of branding a small business is that you must be absolutely consistent. Every single interaction that your customers have must send the same message. You are ultimately creating experiences for your prospects, clients and customers that create trust and build emotional attachments to your company.

So, as you begin the task of building a brand that creates fierce and intense loyalty in your market area, don’t forget about the Geek Squad. They are branding masters.

“I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.” — Bill Cosby

To attract clients consistently and with little effort, your marketing message must be clear and it must stand out. There’s no way around it. If what you say about your business and what prospects read about it isn’t sounding irresistible to them, they’ll move on to the next person. Guaranteed.

So, your task is to stand out from the pack and to make prospects really stand up and listen to what you have to offer. In my opinion, standing out from the pack is easiest if you have an expertise or a niche. (But you knew that already.) So, what’s stopping you? Well, after having worked with thousands of people on this issue, I’ve come up with 2 reasons why most people don’t niche:

  1. They believe they’ll turn away opportunities if they go too narrow.
  2. They wouldn’t even know where to start (and most are going about it the WRONG way).

Let’s start with the first point.

Believing that you’ll turn away clients and opportunities if you niche is actually completely and utterly invalid. It comes from a “lack” mindset, one based in fear. Ironically, the exact opposite is true. When you niche properly, you get more clients and Client Attraction becomes SO much easier:

  • Your marketing message becomes crystal clear.
  • Your marketing plan is SO much easier (and less costly).
  • People perceive you as an expert (clients seek out experts).
  • You get a lot more referrals than generalists do.
  • Strategic alliances seek YOU out.
  • You can charge more because you know more.
  • You get sought out by the media (the media loves experts)

Once you get clear it’s of absolute benefit to you to niche, your job is to do just that. And that’s usually the daunting part. There are many ways of creating a niche. Solopreneurs often don’t know where to start and if you ask me, people go about it in the wrong way (that’s probably why it’s so frustrating and why they’ve even stopped trying to niche). Here’s where they’re making a mistake.

Most people look on the OUTSIDE for a niche, when they should be looking on the INSIDE. Instead of TRYING to find a demographic that is more affluent, or more likely to work with you and forcing yourself into a particular niche, just because the numbers look good on paper, look for a situation or type of person you have an AFFINITY with, who can recognize that working with you is essential.

Hint: your niche is usually someone like you, who is in the “before” stage of YOUR own “before-and-after” story. This is really important. When someone is looking to hire someone in your industry, they’re looking for a SOLUTION to their biggest problem. Not only that, they’re also looking for reassurance it will work and their mo-ney will be well spent.

Essentially, many will come to you and pay you (well) to have you show them how to get to the “after” part of the story. That’s when using your Compelling Story in your marketing begins to REALLY make a difference in your Client Attraction. When you can tell your story, show your struggles, what you did to get over those, and what your situation is like now (and that you can help them do the exact same thing and, oh, you’ve actually got a Proprietary System that will walk them through it easily) they’re SOLD.

Right there, on the spot, they will choose to be your client. And you haven’t even opened your mouth yet! Your marketing message and materials did all the work for you. How cool is that?

Your Assignment:

Instead of looking on the OUTSIDE for your niche, look for it on the INSIDE. Your best clients may just be the person experiencing the “before” part of your “before and after” story. A person in that position will look to you for the solutions they need and will probably do anything and pay relatively anything to work with you to get out of their situation. They’ll trust you faster than they would the average Joe and will look to you as their problem solver before anyone else.

Use your compelling story to pinpoint your niche. It can be either a type of SITUATION you’re solving or a type of PERSON you work with. Or it can be both, it doesn’t matter. They key is to have such clarity in your marketing (a niche) that clients and customers self-select and pre-qualify themselves to be your client, with little or no effort on your part. Then, they reach out to you without you having to do anything. Can you now see how much easier it is to have a niche? Good. This may just be the start of a whole new business and in-come level for you.

You may be having trouble figuring out your own Compelling Story, Proprietary System, and niche. If so, I recommend getting a copy of the Client Attraction Home Study System™. It gives you the most important things to do to figure this all out easily, and then set up simple, solid marketing systems, so that you consistently fill your pipeline and continually get new clients. It’s all step-by-step, not a big mishmash of things. So, you do step one of the system, and when you’re done with that, you move on to step two, and so on. All the tools, scripts, templates, and examples are handed to you on a silver platter. Easy. If you have been online for any length of time you’ve been exposed to a blog in one way or another. In fact you’re probably using one yourself and understand the importance of a small business utilizing a blog for several reasons such as increasing traffic, building a relationship with your readers, etc.

Not all people are as fortunate as those of us that know the importance of blogging. Speaking on a local level if you’ve ever had a conversation with a small business owner who has a brick and mortar business you have probably come to the conclusion that some of them don’t even know what a blog is!

That’s where a Virtual Assistant who loves WordPress, has a creative side and doesn’t mind working mostly behind the scenes, can utilize their services by becoming a blog consultant. Then you can start evangelizing to small business owners in your local community not only the importance of blogging but the truth – blogging is smart for business.

So exactly what is a blog consultant?

It’s someone passionate about blogging. They love blogging in general but more importantly they understand the importance of blogging for small business owners and want to share that understanding with small business owners especially on the local level.

So if you’re that VA mentioned above and are passionate about blogging and want to share that passion with others then be sure to check out Become A Blog Consultant. If you’re not a VA that’s ok too, this course was created for anyone who has a passion for blogging and wants to share it with local small business owners.

Be sure to check out this site where you can watch a quick two minute video and see a real life client example and sign up for a 16 minute audio that will help you decide if this is for you.

You see them all over the internet, free and fee based informational and how-to products promising a wealth of valuable content and useful, simple to apply know how. One easy and popular method to provide this information is in the form of an Ebook. It seems as though almost everyone is surfing on the Ebook creation wave and hoping to reap the benefit of producing information.

What does it take to create an Ebook?

Well, that can all depend on your goals or intentions for the information you plan to offer.
In any matter, you should take time to plan your work and write it down. Ask your self, “What topic am I going to cover?” and include every thing you want to talk about. Think about your audience and how you can best relay to them, the type of information they need.

You will also want to make sure you are knowledgeable in the topic you want to discuss in your Ebook. Your goal should be giving your readers accurate and value information that will, depending on your topic, make things easier for them. Once you have the basics figured out, you can create your outline. Determine and write down in order, each subject you wish to write about.

Research

The next step you can take is to do some research on your chosen topic. Take notes and write down useful information including facts and statistics. As you are performing your research, keep in mind your audience and how you can simplify the information for them. Your Ebook should be able to provide the answers to the types of questions they are asking.

Next, you can create your table of contents and start writing your first chapter. You can use any word document to create your Ebook. Make sure you use correct grammar, punctuation and take time to thoroughly proof read each chapter.

Packaging

After you’ve created and edited your final version, it will be time to package your finished product. Most people use some sort of Ebook compiler software but you can also DIY (do it yourself). You can use pdf 995 to turn your word documents into a pdf version.

Once you have completed that, you are ready to upload your finished ebook online. You can offer your ebook free of charge for visitors who subscribe to your mailing list while building credibility and allowing your audience to get to know you better. You may also sell your ebook for a profit at E-Junkie. They provide buy now buttons and shopping cart to let you sell digital and tangible products. They take care of all the payment processing and do secure and automatic delivery for your digital products. You can also set up your own affiliate program through them so other people can sell your products too.

The rest involves promoting your Ebook. You can write a descriptive sales page or post letting people know what your Ebook is about and the benefits it offers. Let readers know exactly what they will learn and why they should download it. If you believe in your work, provided useful tips and focused on your audience, your readers will see the value.

Good Luck!
