We all want our businesses to grow and to be profitable. I know I do. But when you are one among many and a newbie among vets, getting seen and heard is more than a notion.
It is getting more and more difficult to make an impact online, particularly in industries that are saturated with tons of quality content and top notch entrepreneurs.
But it never fails – a few online marketers bust onto the scene, claiming their spots amongst the greats while establishing themselves as an authority to be reckoned with.
How do they do it? How can a novice – with no special skills or super human powers – rise to the top so quickly?
What does it mean to be an expert in a particular niche? What are people looking for in an ‘expert’? When people start looking for an expert in a particular field, they are looking for valuable information. Information that is valuable to them. They want to be taught something that they do not know.
Why do you want to be viewed as an expert within your niche? Expert status is a tool to increase the number of people who patronize your business. Creating expert status may be the missing step in taking your business to the next level.
Recently, a friend told me about a negative incident she had while dining at a large restaurant chain. Her waitress was very rude and inattentive. By the time her meal arrived, her colleague had finished eating. The last straw was realizing her steak was prepared wrong. Angrily, she took out her I Phone and sent out a tweet to her followers about her experience. Minutes later, she received an apology from the restaurant’s general manager; the cost of her meal was waived; and she was given a $100 gift certificate for a future visit. Imagine if that restaurant chain didn’t have a social media presence? What you don’t know can harm you!
When Google launched the Google+ project, I couldn’t wait to jump on board. I’m a huge fan of Google and thoroughly enjoy many of their services. It was when I discovered that only a limited amount of invites were being given out as a “trial” (and I wasn’t one), that I began to think…do I really need to be a part of yet another social network community?
So, what’s the big deal about Google plus? Well basically, it is another social network, but what makes it so intriguing (other than you can’t get in unless your invited)…it’s by GOOGLE!!!

Since more small business owners are starting to see the value of having a Facebook Fan Page for their business, there seems to still be many who find it difficult to effectively use it to grow their business.
During our recent Twitter Party, one of our topic discussions was - How to better engage Facebook Fans. What many of the ladies shared was that they weren’t sure how to create interactions and entice participation with their fans.
What I shared was that your Fan Page is a community. Think of your community (Fan Page) as a way for people to come together in one place. Take it a step further and recognize that they are there to “discuss, share and learn”, about a particular topic of interest to THEM.
This past week has been so awesome that I had to write this post to share and affirm for any entrepreneur or small business owner, there is power and value in networking and building connections.
As you may already know, I built TheCEOMamma over the past year and a half, using only Social Media to network and establish relationships. Of course my goal was and is to make money, just like every entrepreneur, but I knew in order to do that, I had to first…build a strong network and solid connections.
Over the course of my online business building journey, I have met some amazingly successful and driven women, some passionate and aspiring “go-getters” and some of the greatest and supportive friends one could ask for.
LinkedIn is a powerful social network for business growth. As recent as March 2011, LinkedIn reported more than 100 million registered users, spanning more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. Imagine the exposure using LinkedIn as a part of your strategic plan?
If used properly, LinkedIn is a superb and very effective networking and marketing tool!
Are you LinkedIn? If not, then why not? Here are 6 ways to incorporate LinkedIn as a part of your company’s marketing strategy:
Determining how you will market your online business can be a challenge when your funds are limited or even, non-existent. It’s helpful when you have access to the necessary tools needed to run your business on a day-to-day basis and even better, when those tools are free!
When I first started my online business, I had no savings and no money to invest in marketing. I was however, determined to make my business work so I began to search for free alternatives. A few of the resources and tools I found are still tools that I use now in my business and allow me to keep more of my profit in my pocket.
